I don't say this just because I'm a Canadian (although I am and people think we're âniceâ). I'm also a Canadian entrepreneur who lived in San Francisco and did business all over the U.S. as well. Marketing means that you probably have opinions and are doing thing differently.

What does polite mean?
The Oxford dictionary (on-line) says that polite is an adjective that means either courteous and well-mannered or cultured and refined as in polite society.

It has also been used to suggest that we keep our opinions to ourselves or be quiet about something as the British have been known to be.

What can we as entrepreneurs do?
We could say nothing at all but we are small business owners who usually offer and do what we think. That means that we probably speak our opinions out loud to everyone whether they're listening or not.

We could do a number of things.

1. When you own a business, you never know when you meet someone whom they know or what they believe. You could be in line getting groceries or training 20 people on how to write a newsletter or even networking and speaking with someone one on one. Whether you are a small business owner who is marketing on purpose or someone out and about meeting people, keep your controversial opinions to yourself.

2. You might find out what else a person does by asking different questions. Don't ask the same ones all the time like what is your business, what do you do, or a simple one like who are you. Ask these questions to learn more about the person themself and who they know.

3. Listen more and talk less. That means that you learn about them and their business. It's said that we each have two ears and one mouth for a reason. We should really listen to what the other person is saying then reply to what they said because we care.

4. Have an opinion but say it quietly and ânicelyâ like we Canadians. It's quite alright to speak of an idea that we have that is different from the ânormâ. Saying it politely offends no one. If they take it personally then you haven't been the cause of that.

5. Say nothing. You could just be quiet. I know that's not the usual thing for entrepreneurs but sometimes it's best for everybody concerned.

Overhaul Your Home Business Strategy For Bigger Profits

I have done the things most home business owners in Network Marketing have done and continue to do. I buy leads and make calls. A lot of calls! I employ the three-foot rule as well. You know, if someone is within three feet, I start talking with them.

Using these strategies over the past twenty-five years, I have met with varying degrees of success in my home business within the MLM Industry â" from flat out failure to skyrocketing success. However, I have noticed some drawbacks with these methods. Mind you, I am not knocking these strategies for building a home business. For some people they work well. However, I have begun to find them limiting in a number of ways.

Buying leads can get expensive. I could have been around the world a couple times with all the money I have spent on leads. Plus, I donât really have control over the quality of the leads or the number of times the leads have been sold to other home business owners. Some leads I have purchased come to me by way of the survey method. People go online and fill out some survey which asks about being in, or starting a home business. Many reply they would like that, but in fact, have no real interest or intention of starting a home business. I know because I have talked to hundreds of them. I guess they think it sounds good, and somewhere in the back of their minds, they probably would like a home business of their own.

The three-foot rule is quite limiting in the number of people I can talk to. I am disabled -40% the government says- and I do not get around like I used to. So, it is simply a matter of not being able to see or talk to many people these days. As we all know, to grow our home business we need to talk to a lot of people. It is truly the proverbial numbers game.

I have decided to increase the numbers of leads I get and to have more control over the quality of the leads. I am employing online marketing strategies for virtually all my lead generation activities to build my home business. I have just started working one of the methods and it is showing great promise. I am also in the early stages of setting up several other systems. I expect good results from these systems too. In fact, I envision myself never making a cold-call again. Imagine how cool that would be!

You or the Person involved was personally a big part of the system and the results. If you are great on the phone and others aren't, they won't get the same results. The system wasn't really duplicateable. Results weren't predictable once you got to the step where the person became a part of the system. This is why I am such a large proponent for internet network marketing. Internet Success still requires effort but the results are more predictable. The figures never change and they never lie because the system does the selling NOT you. If you haven't noticed, with Google buying Double Click, AOL buying many different companies, and now with Microsoft with a new announced billion dollar acquisition, the big boys are very serious about having control of the internet advertising market. There is a lot of money at stake for each of these companies, and now there is a new thing for them to fear: Open Source. Open source is nothing new, but the impact of open source technologies impinges itself on every sphere of influence, especially on the internet. And now the big advertising boys are looking a little worried. What is an open source ad server? And why should you care? Basically, if you have a blog, or own a website you can sign up for Google Adsense and make a few pennies. But if you own any kind of a website, its important at some point to get a little better control over your advertising, so that you can monetize it more effectively, or at least test out different ad networks. All those ad networks comprise millions of websites, with billions of impressions per day, most of them with fortune 500 companies using them to advertise. If you have a tool which will allow you to test different ad networks against each other, you can see which network is going to pay you more. There is also a benefit to the consumer as well. All the big ad networks like Doubleclick tie advertisers to a specific ad platform, and as an advertiser you don't just pay for the advertising, you pay a fee to use the platform. "My Apologies" Internet Marketing Emails

There sure seems to be a lot of internet marketers that are sorry for stuff lately. Has anyone else noticed how many apology emails that have been going out or am I just subscribed to too many newsletters?

Since the beginning of July I counted atleast five apology emails. Everything from web site and tele-seminar glitches to "Oops I forgot to tell you aboutâ¦" emails. Some have been situations where equipment just didn't work as it should have. These cases are just a way of life on the net. Servers will fail due to too much traffic (though by now you would think that they would have enough bandwidth to expect the usual deluge of vistors). An apology in the case of malfunction is expected.

Now what about the "Oops I forgot to tell you aboutâ¦" apology. Usually the reason for this apology is because they were concentrating on one big launch and forgot about the other big internet marketing launch. It seems to me that if you are promoting and promoting one big ebook, system or software to your list and then suddenly throw another launch at them at the same time that this could be internet marketing information overload.

Personally I get tired of getting the same emails about the same launches from everyone's newsletters. My question is this, is it better to focus your promotions on one big internet marketing launch or is it better to promote every internet marketing launch that comes down the pike (even if those launches are at the same time)?

I have to believe that if you market every ebook, internet marketing system and internet marketing software that comes along no matter when it comes that you are just going to overload your subscribers. If you read some of the comments on Derek Gehl's blog there are many people who have trouble getting started just because of information overload. If you keep throwing stuff at them just because it's the new thing coming out, your people are eventually going to get tired of it and leave.

Another thing you have to remember is the old saying that my daddy always used to tell me (and now I tell my sons), "Money doesn't grow on trees." Most internet marketers that are starting out have a very limited amount of funds to work with. Because of this they must pick and choose what would be the best investment for their dollar. If you are sending an email about every ebook, system or software that comes along (which can be almost everyday it seems like sometimes), how can they make up their mind what is best for their dollar.

Now what if your subscribers are also subscribed to your competition's newsletter but those competitors are going on and on about just one big product and how that one product will change his subscriber's internet marketing business. Who do you think those subscribers are going to listen to? The guy going on about the one product or you, who has jumped to the next product and the next product and the next product.

Let's remember the KISS method of doing business. Keep it simple so your subscribers will have an obvious choice when they decide to spend their hard earned dollars. Give them one or two choices that you have really hyped up and make them feel that their choice buying from you will be the right investment.
